An Open Interview with Dr. Rath

Almelo, the Netherlands

1. Dr. Rath, what considerations led to your decision to transfer all profits from the company’s commercial activities to a Foundation as official policy?1. Dr. Rath, what considerations led to your decision to transfer all profits from the company’s commercial activities to a Foundation as official policy?

The step we have now taken of changing our company structure so that all profits now automatically flow into a Foundation is really only a way of consolidating the legal basis for what we were already doing in practice. Since our company was founded, we have used its revenues for two significant areas of our work:

One, Cellular Medicine research at our Research Institute for Cellular Medicine in California and also in numerous clinical studies; and two, providing health education and information on the importance of cellular nutrients for preventing and curing illness. I have been holding lectures for years now attended by many thousands of people, and as part of our Health Alliance, we have been holding information events and training courses at various levels on Cellular Medicine and its potential.

In other words, nothing is changing here. All that we are doing is making clear to any residual doubters that our commercial principle accords with our message and the general good of the population. In doing so, we are, at the same time, unmasking the pharmaceutical industry and its unscrupulous investment “business with disease” even more effectively.

Of still greater importance is the following: in view of increasing criticism of the unscrupulous greed for profit of large company groups, we need to show that there are alternatives that put the human being first. That is why our decision to make our Health Alliance into a kind of “charitable company” is of such contemporary relevance.

I am convinced that this is also an important step for the members of our Health Alliance. When, in the future, you help people gain greater insight into Cellular Medicine and recommend our health program, even the last doubters will see what we stand for: a health system under public control, in which the health interests of millions are valued far more than the profit interests of a handful of pharmaceutical shareholders. ...hide content

2. In specific terms, how do you see the difference between this “charitable” principle and the pharmaceutical industry’s commercial principle?
2. In specific terms, how do you see the difference between this “charitable” principle and the pharmaceutical industry’s commercial principle?

The pharmaceutical industry’s commercial principle as an “investment industry” is based on the patentability of its products. It can only go on chalking up its annual billion-dollar profits as long as it produces patented drugs. In 2003 alone, the German pharmaceutical industry’s turnover was around 25 billion euros. Since patents expire after a few years, allowing others to manufacture the medicines too, new “blockbusters” – as they are known in the heartless language of stock exchange traders – must continually be invented, along with ever-new illnesses. We must keep telling our fellow human beings that the pharmaceutical industry’s commercial basis is the perpetuation and exploitation of illnesses. The reverse is likewise true: the precondition for eradicating illness is the abolition of the pharmaceutical investment “business with disease.” This is not as difficult as might be supposed, and people throughout the world are already working actively to achieve the long overdue political measures necessary for this.

We can already offer a scientifically and economically viable alternative in place of this unscrupulous pharmaceutical “business with disease.” Human beings themselves, together their health interests, are the focus of our work. Using the scientifically proven natural procedures of Cellular Medicine, we aim to prevent and eradicate endemic diseases. By doing, so we are depriving the pharmaceutical industry of the basis for its literally deadly “business with disease.”

The vested financial interests underpinning the pharmaceutical industry are not only responsible for the deaths of millions of patients from illnesses that could long ago have been eradicated, but these same groups are also the ones that defend the survival of their investment industry by means of international crises and wars.

Humanity stands at a crossroads: will we continue to be ruled by those powers who are willing to walk roughshod over millions of victims of illness and war just to secure their personal interests and assets? Or will we, instead, liberate ourselves from these destructive powers by taking responsibility for our health ourselves, at last placing our countries’ health systems under public control?

Our Health Alliance is a worldwide movement that regards health, peace and social justice for all people on this planet as intrinsically linked. ...hide content

3. How are the protective patents on cellular nutrient compounds handled to ensure that these will continue to be available to all people and benefit their health?3. How are the protective patents on cellular nutrient compounds handled to ensure that these will continue to be available to all people and benefit their health?

In the past, we have often been attacked for patenting our cellular nutrient formulas and thus supposedly acting no differently from the pharmaceutical industry with its commercial patenting practices. Those who claim this underestimate the pharmaceutical investment industry’s brutality and the need for those who wish to vanquish such trade to protect themselves comprehensively from the machinations of the pharmaceutical industry.

We differentiate between two types of patents. The first type is profit patents, i.e., the typical pharmaceutical patents on new substances, whose astronomical license fees create the basis for the pharmaceutical investment industry’s immense speculative profits.

The second type of patent is protective patents. These do not involve license fees for speculative purposes, but the protection of health formulas against their aggressive take-over by the pharmaceutical cartel. Such a takeover would not occur so that the pharmaceutical industry could subsequently use such technology, but in order to withdraw these effective natural remedies from circulation, thus leaving unopposed the pharmaceutical “business with disease.”

These protective patents are the precondition for us maintaining the very possibility of eradicating today’s endemic diseases and ensuring this process is not sabotaged by pharmaceutical interests.

These protective patents are thus also protecting the health interests of millions of people worldwide.

If the government of a developing or industrialized nation makes a decision to use these patents and the underlying scientific discoveries for the benefit of its citizens, then we will grant it the permission to do so, without any costs incurred by this government. However, we will require a guarantee that no commercial profits will be involved in this, but that the prime focus will be human health itself. The second condition is ensuring that public health information relating to these natural remedies is undertaken by qualified advisers, for instance, through state recognition of new professions such as “nutritional adviser” or “adviser for Cellular Medicine.” ...hide content

4. How do you see the long-term effects of your decision?4. How do you see the long-term effects of your decision?

Well, I am firmly convinced that people will recognize here, once again, that Cellular Medicine and pharmaceutical medicine are like fire and water - in other words, that Cellular Medicine’s concern is human beings and their health, while the pharmaceutical industry aims, where possible, is to perpetuate and increase the spread of illnesses as the basis for its “business with disease.” Humanity will increasingly turn to Cellular Medicine as a scientifically founded natural remedy, for hundreds of thousands of people have already had positive and often even life-saving experiences with Cellular Medicine. Every day we receive letters of gratitude from all parts of the world.

And especially, young people with an interest in developing a career in the healing professions will see the opportunities offered by Cellular Medicine. For instance, they can participate actively in our Health Alliance as Trainers in Cellular Health, thus working to create a new health system. ...hide content

5. How can this decision be assessed overall, particularly in the context of current unemployment levels and economic crises?5. How can this decision be assessed overall, particularly in the context of current unemployment levels and economic crises?

At a time of boundless wealth accumulation by big company groups and uncontrolled greed for profit in the global economy, I believe that this will set an example and will send out a signal for socially responsible enterprises. All who know me are aware that this accords fully with my commitment to a healthy, peaceful and socially just world. In addition, this decision gives a solid basis for charitable work that serves the interests of millions of people and patients. And this, in turn, creates a clear, long-term foundation for the commitment of innumerable members of our Health Alliance to develop a new health system whose prime focus is the human being.

Our Health Alliance is concerned with developing a wholly new health system with the target of “health for all by the year 2020.” I have described the means to achieve this in a programmatic statement that I presented in March of this year in Berlin to an audience of more than one thousand people. Please read this statement. If it is not appended to this interview, please request a copy from us. It is an unsustainable state of affairs that education, security and many other important areas of society are, quite understandably, under public control, but that the health system, the most important realm of every social system, is controlled by a band of unscrupulous wheeler-dealers in the pharmaceutical cartel.

This is like entrusting our country’s security, not to the police, but to the Sicilian mafia, and then being surprised if our streets are plastered with corpses and that these murders are funded out of the social budget. If you understand this example, then you will also understand what is at stake here: the end of the medical Middle Ages and the start of a new era in which the health system is subject to public control. ...hide content
